3rd World Coffee Producers Forum
The 3rd meeting of the World Coffee Producers Forum, hosted by Rwanda, follows the previous ones in Medellín, Colombia in 2017, and in Campinas, Brazil in 2019. Each of them gathered over 1,500 producers, industry representatives, government officials, multilateral agencies, and NGOs from over 40 countries.
We have also had the honor of hosting high-level speakers such as President Bill Clinton and Nobel Peace Laureate President Juan Manuel Santos, among other dignitaries, as well as Professor Jeffrey Sachs, global leader of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
With an impressive group of experts, the focus of this year’s virtual meeting will be to analyze and develop an ambitious agenda towards true coffee farmers’ prosperity, that will allow each generation of producers have a better livelihood than the last. This work will serve as the base to develop guidelines, to be approved in our in-person gathering in Kigali, Rwanda in 2022, for the creation of National Coffee Sustainability Plans that will help producing countries design and implement comprehensive coffee policies to secure the future of a coffee sector where coffee producers are prosperous and coffee production is sustainable.
